Servings: 16 brownies

Ingredients

  • Brownie Batter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Patriotic Toppings
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips melted
  • 1/2 cup red candy-coated chocolates
  • 1/2 cup blue candy-coated chocolates
  • Optional: red white, and blue sprinkles

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 or 9x9 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter and whisk it with granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth and slightly glossy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir just until no dry streaks remain.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until edges are set and the center has moist crumbs on a toothpick.
  7. Let brownies cool for at least 30–45 minutes before decorating.
  8. Drizzle melted white chocolate over cooled brownies.
  9. Sprinkle red and blue candies evenly on top while chocolate is still soft.
  10. Chill slightly before slicing for cleaner edges.

Notes

Do not overbake or brownies will turn dry instead of fudgy.
Let brownies cool fully before cutting to avoid crumbling.
White chocolate should be slightly warm, not hot, when drizzled.
Store in airtight container up to 4 days at room temperature.
Freeze up to 2 months for best texture retention.
